The last January EF2/F2 tornado in central Oklahoma was on January 18, 1973. There are some similarities, and some differences in the weather pattern for both events. (It also shows how much technology has changed). Very similar upper level pattern for both systems, with the 1973 system perhaps slightly stronger overhead and upstream.
